Patrick Swayze and Americna songwriter Stacy Widelitz co-wrote “She’s Like The Wind” in 1984. It was originally intended for the soundtrack of Randal Kleiser’s comedy-drama film film “Grandview, U.S.A.” (starring Jamie Lee Curtis, Patrick Swayze, C. Thomas Howell). However, the song was not used in that film. During production of “Dirty Dancing”, Swayze played the demo for producer Linda Gottlieb and director Emile Ardolino. They loved it and passed it on to Jimmy Ienner and Bob Feiden, the soundtrack’s executive producers. It was recorded in November 1986, with Michael Lloyd producing. The single was released in December 1987 with “Stay” by American doo-wop/R&B vocal group Maurice Williams And The Zodiacs on the B-side
