Michael Jackson – Dirty Diana
The song was written by Michael Jackson. “Dirty Diana” is the ninth track on his seventh studio album, “Bad”. It was released as the fifth single off the album on April 18, 1988 with the instrumental version of the song on the B-side. The song features a guitar solo played by Steve Stevens (best known as Billy Idol’s guitarist and songwriting collaborator). The single topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart and reached the top ten in numerous countries, incl. #3 in Germany and #4 in the UK.
The music video for the song was directed by American director Joe Pytka. It was filmed in March 1988 in Long Beach, California. The video won the “Number-One Video in the World” at the second World Music Awards. The woman who appears in the video is model Lisa Dean.
The second video of a live performance was filmed in early 1988 in Madison Square Garden (Steve Stevens playing guitar). The video starts with the screen saying “Pepsi Presents Michael Jackson Tour 1988”.
